Right
(Simon, 8/13/95)
Relax, all is right with the world
rejoicing and laughter are gone
my face has returned to its frown,
my thoughts are all focussed, withdrawn
like my presence from everything public
where hauntings, old lovers, abound.
Relax, all is right in the earth
back is the manic depression
my posture is slouching and down
my effervescence is no infection
but a wispy cloud, lost on a whim
and lost is the smile of renown.
Relax, all is right with the world
i was loved far too well and too long
the uplift and light heart were lies
but the truth is formidably strong
the past has reclaimed abandoned home
and joy, unfamiliar, here dies.
