the state of their relation makes

looking up, his eyes still closed
the roses lie on the path he chose
he throws his head back, shirks
his shirt and takes this leap

he stutters to himself, and turns around in flight

with hands clutching her heavy book about medieval science
she mutters to herself about the crushing weight of silence
