touch

the body is an organ of perception
whose organizing structure is the brain
we who hope to hold and fear rejection
will try to comprehend and to explain

when with her hands she opens you
as her eyes are open wide
she hopes that you will love her for it
hopes you love what is inside
and that the soul revealed within
the simple skin you wear
will reach in turn to touch her hands
and lay its body bare

we enter others' minds with words
as we are seen by others' eyes
we raise our voices to be heard
in a thousand shades of truth and lies

when with her voice she murders you 
as her mouth is open wide 
she hopes you will be born anew
prays you will be purified
and the truth revealed within 
the heart she wants to find
will illuminate her own
body heart and soul and mind

so with my eyes i open you
as my arms are open wide
i hope that you will love me for it
i hope you love what is inside
and that the soul revealed within
the simple self you wear
will reach out to touch my hands
and lay my body bare
