we've been around. mostly sitting around. but we're still doing it. and we play our instruments while we do.
it takes rather a lot of sitting around when you're as many bands as we are. but you can sign any of
them:
- the shundred hade
-
with a whopping 0 public appearances, the shundred hade have a long line of satisfied fans waiting for their
autographed copies of their first single. look for them on napster, where their one representation is actually a
band found below. but what napster doesn't know won't hurt them. mostly originals, but listen for the influences
of Pink Floyd, Ani diFranco, NoMeansNo, and Paul Simon.
- Whatever That Was
-
the longest-running band i've been in. we named it retroactively, eponymous of an odd situation in which we
found ourselves in a hotel room months after naming ourselves that. Whatever That Was played a few gigs outside
in a parking lot. two local girls danced. they gave us one dollar and seventeen cents in U.S. currency. and a
dented coffee can. bands covered include the Beatles, Boingo, Billy joel, and they might Be giants.
- Enigmata
-
a hardcore punk group, more like a gang than a band, except for the fact that we didn't wear gang colors,
initiate new members, or commit any organized crimes, and we did play musical instruments together. we harassed
various Dunkin' Donuts and Denny's in the northeast while arguing loudly about whether or not the Vivictus Azmadi
Precedent applied and sipping on waters flambe.
- The E-some Threesome ("E3")
-
rather a dumb name, i'm afraid, but we all thought everybody else liked it. then again, this is the group that
rejected the names "fruit algorithm" "redutio ad absurdiem" and "audience". any casual observer can see this is a
list of subversives that reduces to the absurd. we played a coffee house show or two. very folky, acoustic
stuff.
- un
-
unlike the philadelphia band of the same name, people didn't forget us in 1996. hard to forget a band you never
knew about, isn't it? but this is how we started out. a handful of songs, two people, one and a half
guitars. this is the band all the others sprung out of, somehow or another. enjoy our debut, "Granted".
For more information on any of these bands, e-mail Simon. He'll land you
an interview.
